In this section, you can manage the notifications and reports you receive, change your password, and update your billing information.
 
You can opt in or out of email and WhatsApp notifications for each new chat you receive. By default, email notifications for each chat are turned on.
 
You can also opt in or out of the daily report, which includes customer queries within 24 hours. Daily reports are turned on by default.
 
If you’d like to change your password, simply go to “Change Password”, enter your old password, and add the new password you’d like to use.
 
In the Billing Management section, you can easily change the plan you currently use and update your payment information.

Installing AskHandle on your custom website is a simple process. Log in to your AskHandle account and click on “Installation” in the menu.
 
Copy the installation code and paste it onto your website before the </body> tag or in the footer section.
 
Once you have completed the copy-and-paste step, AskHandle will immediately appear on your website.
 
Alternatively, you can use Google Tag Manager to install AskHandle directly onto your website.

# Installing on NextJS websites

The Next.js-based website is a single-page web framework that enables you to create full-stack web applications by leveraging the latest React features. However, it doesn’t offer the standard index.html where you can easily copy and paste most of the `<script>` based installation codes, including the AskHandle install code. Therefore, some small customizations to the install code are necessary to fit the Next.js structure.
 
There are two places in a Next.js application where we can install the `<script>...</script>`. They are located in the \_app.js and layout.js files.
 
The \_app.js file is a top-level component that wraps around all of your pages, and any code placed inside this component will be executed on every page. To add scripts, we can also use the built-in Next.js component Script. Placing your Script components inside \_app.js ensures that the scripts are loaded and executed across all application pages.
 
Layout.js is a custom component you create to maintain a consistent design across your pages (e.g., headers, footers, or sidebars).
 
In short, \_app.js is a special component in Next.js that sets up your app’s pages, while Layout.js is a custom component you create to maintain design consistency across pages.
 
The Script component in Next.js provides a 'strategy' prop that you can use to define where the script should be loaded. There are three possible values for the 'strategy' prop:
 
- beforeInteractive: This will load the script before rendering the page. This strategy is not recommended for scripts that can be deferred, as it may slow down the page rendering. The script will be placed in the <head>.
- lazyOnload: This will load the script once the page has been rendered and the 'window.onload' event has been fired. This strategy is recommended for non-critical scripts that can be deferred. The script will be placed in the <body>.
- afterInteractive (default): This will load the script immediately after rendering the page. The script will be placed in the <body>.

This plugin facilitates adding AskHandle to every page of your website. Click `Install Now` and then activate it after installation.

In General Data Mode, AskHandle creates content and provides answers using publicly available information, primarily from the internet. This mode harnesses the standard capabilities of GPT, which makes it suitable for a wide array of prompts, content generation, and for swiftly providing answers to many common questions.

It is important to note that General Data Mode does not use any proprietary information you may have uploaded for customization purposes.

## 2. Your Own Data Mode

In Your Own Data Mode, AskHandle uses only the information you have uploaded for customization to generate content and provide answers. It will not access or supply any information beyond what you have provided.

Furthermore, this mode is designed to omit small talk; therefore, casual phrases like “thank you,” “bye,” or “great” will not prompt a social response from AskHandle unless such interactions are included in your uploaded data.

If AskHandle encounters questions it cannot answer with the provided data, it will revert to a default “contact us” message. You can customize this message in the Appearance section of your AskHandle dashboard, under Option 2.

## 3. Combined Data Mode
   
Combined Data Mode is the default setting where AskHandle gives priority to the information you have uploaded for customization, ensuring that all responses and content creation are based on your data. This mode allows for small talk, meaning that casual greetings and farewells such as “hello” and “goodbye” will be acknowledged and answered suitably.

Please note that in this mode, AskHandle will not offer specific details about other companies, products, or services unless you have explicitly included that information in your uploaded data.

**We recommend using the `"Combined Data"` mode. This strategy optimizes chatbot efficacy, ensuring it consistently delivers meaningful interactions to your customers.**

**If data security and privacy are paramount, "Your Own Data" mode is a viable alternative. ## 4. Combined Data Mode

The Image Generator mode allows you to generate images by simply providing a text prompt.


The Data Source section in the AskHandle dashboard is where you can upload your training materials. Data Source Mode dictates how you'd like AskHandle to engage with your customers upon receiving a question. AskHandle provides three Data Source Modes to select from: General Data, Your Own Data, and Combined Data.

1. **Copy Your Data:**
   - Open your file.
   - Select any word in the document.
   - Press **Command + A** (for Mac users) or **Ctrl + A** (for Windows users) to select all the text.
   - Copy the text by pressing **Command + C** (on Mac) or **Ctrl + C** (on Windows).  
2. **Use AskHandle Document Cleaner:**
   - Go to [AskHandle Document Cleaner](https://cleaner.askhandle.com/).
3. **Paste Your Data:**
   - In AskHandle Document Cleaner, you'll see a text field.
   - Paste your copied data using **Command+V** (on Mac) or **Ctrl + V** (on Windows).
   - Note: If your document exceeds 600 words, you'll need to clean it in sections.
4. **Start the Cleaning Process:**
   - Click the “Start Cleaning” button to begin the data cleaning process.
5. **Download Clean Data:**
   - Once the cleaning is complete, download the file with your clean data.
6. **Upload Clean Data:**
   - Return to the Command Center.
   - Upload the new file containing the cleaned data.

# Can I configure the visuals and UX of the chat box?

 You can configure and adjust visuals and UX of the chat box to match your style and brand. In this section, you will be able to configure the visual and textual components of the AskHandle chat box. Let's explore the parts you can configure and how to configure them.


### Option 1: Greeting message

Log in to AskHandle dashboard and go to “Appearance” section, Option 1.

This is a message that users will see as soon as the chatbot starts.

The default message is “Hi [username]! How can we help you today?”.
 
To change the message, you can write your message in the “greeting message” field. After you are done changing the greeting message, click the “Save” button on the bottom of page to save the change.

### Option 2: Contact message

This is a message you will use to guide users to contact you on your phone number or email address. The default message is: “For more details, please call us directly at 123-456-7890.”
 
To change the default message, simply start writing in the message field. When you are done with your message, please click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 3: Company name

Set a name for your chatbot.

To change the default message, simply start writing in the message field. When you are done with writing your chatbot name, please click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 4: Upload logo

This is the part where you can upload your company logo, or any other image, which will be shown as soon as the user engages with AskHandle.

The default logo is AskHandle logo. To change the logo, simply click on the area where logo is placed and upload your own logo/image.

Recommended size is 170 x 170 pixels

When you finish uploading your logo, don’t forget to click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 5: Chat box theme color

This is the part where you can configure the theme color for the chat box, so it can match your website/brand color.

To change the color, you can copy and paste the Hex color code (for example, #0096ff) or simply choose the color from the color chart. After you finish configuring the color, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 6: Chat box position

You can choose several positions on the website where to place the AskHandle chat box. The default position is the right-bottom part of the website.

There are two parts in configuration of the chat box position: horizontal and vertical part:

• On the horizontal part, you can choose from right, center and left placement;
• On the vertical part, you can choose from bottom, center and top placement;
 
When you finish configuring the positioning of the chat box, please don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 7: Pre-chat form

This is the part where you can enable/disable user inputs, which you can receive before users engage with the chatbot. The user inputs include the name, email address and phone number. This information, when received, will be automatically added to user leads.

By default, enabled user inputs are Name and Email Address.

To enable/disable certain input, simply switch on or off the toggle by the input (blue color means the input is on; white color means the input is off).

After you configured the inputs, please click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 8: Header title and subtitle

Header Title and Subtitle are the messages welcoming users to chat. The default Title is “We are currently” and Subtitle is “Online”.
 
To change the Title and Subtitle, simply start typing in each field. When you are done, please click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 9: Chat title and subtitle

Chat Title and Subtitle are the taglines above the chat. The default Chat Title is “Need help?” and Subtitle is “You can ask us anything!”
 
To change the Chat Title and Subtitle, start typing in the fields. When you finish customizing your Chat Title and Subtitle, please click the “Save” button on the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 10: Start button caption

Start Button is the button that starts the chat between users and the chatbot. The default name of the Start Button is “Start New Chat”.

To change the name of the Start Button, please start typing in the field and after you made the changes, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 11: Start button color

To change the color of the Start Button, please input the HEX color code or simply find the color you wish to use in the color palette, then click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 12: Input placeholders

Placeholders are fields where users input information (name, email address, phone number, messages).

Default placeholders can be seen in the image below.

If you would like to change any of these placeholders, please start typing in the field of the placeholder you would like to change.

When you finish changing the placeholder names, please don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 13: Message position

This is an option to show the chatbot avatar on the left side or the right side in the chat. Default position is the left side.

If you’d like to change the position of the chatbot avatar, please click on the field that shows “left” and choose the ‘right’ option.

After you are done changing the position, please click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 14: Upload avatar image

Avatar is a visual representation of the chatbot. It’s an icon/image next to the messages.

To change the default avatar, simply click on the avatar and upload your own avatar/image that you would like to use. After you changed the chatbot avatar, please click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 15: Autopilot

You have an option to completely turn off the chatbot (in this case, AskHandle would serve as a live-chat platform).

The default setting is of course “On”.

If you’d like to turn the chatbot off and use AskHandle as a live-chat platform, simply click on the “Use chatbot” button (if the button is white, the chatbot is turned off).

After you made the change, please click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the change.

### Option 16: Set auto-popup

Auto pop-up is the ability for the chat box to pop up to engage with users on the website.

The default setting is 7 seconds (7 seconds after the users came to the website, the chatbot will pop up).

To change the auto pop-up time, simply click on the “Auto pop up” field and put the number of seconds that needs to pass for the chatbot to pop up (if you don’t want the chatbot to pop-up, put zero).

After you changed the setting, please click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save this change.

### Option 17: Sound alert for new incoming message

You would only receive the notification if you’re logged in to your AskHandle account and you are in the “Messages” section of your dashboard. The default setting is “On”.

If you don’t want to receive a sound notification for every new message, simply turn off the switch (if the switch is white, then the sound notification is off).

After your made the change, please click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save this change.

### Option 18: Hide interactive options after clicking

You can choose to hide the quick-reply options once a user chooses one quick reply option. After user clicks on one of the quick-reply options, the rest of the quick-reply options will not be shown anymore. To always have quick-reply options visible, please click on the toggle and save your change.

### Option 19: Hide message typing bar

You can hide the typing bar if you want your users to only interact with the interactive options.

To hide the message typing bar, please click on the toggle and save your changes.

### Option 20: Chat ending settings

You can edit messages your users will see when they want to end the chat.

If you would like to change these messages, please start typing in the field of the end message you would like to change.

When you changed the message, please don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 21: Feedback collection

After each chat ends, your users can rate their experience and leave feedback.

If you would like to change any of these feedback messages, please start typing in the feedback message field you would like to change.

### Option 22: Adding and configuring privacy policy

You can easily add and configure privacy policy and terms of use links in the chat box. There are two locations in the chat box where the links can be placed: on the start page, before users engage with AskHandle and in the scheduling option. Let your users know what you do with their data and guide them to your privacy policies.

To add a privacy policy link on the start page, please click on the toggle next to the “on start page” option and turn it on (it’s on when the toggle is blue). If you’d like to add the privacy link to the scheduling option, please click on the toggle next to the “in scheduling” option and turn it on (it’s on when the toggle is blue).

You can edit the placeholder wording by typing in the policy text field. In the link fields, please put the link to your policy. When you are finished with adding your policies and editing the text in the policies’ fields, please don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save the changes.

### Option 23: Tooltips for chat box

A tooltip is a small, informational pop-up box that appears when a user hovers their cursor over an element, providing brief contextual information or guidance.

If you would like to turn off the tooltip, please click on the toggle and save the change.

You can set the time in seconds for how long tooltip pop-ups should stay on the screen. Set it to 0 if you don't want to use pop-ups.

You can edit the tooltip wording by typing in the tooltip text field.

 As soon as a user engages with AskHandle, a new customer profile is created. Every customer profile is stored and managed in the “Customers” section of your Dashboard. To access your contacts, please hover on the left sidebar menu and click on “Customers”.

In the “Customers” section, you will find several data points about your users. The customer profile consists of user’s contact information, such as name, email address and phone number. Contact information is captured in the pre-chat form, if you have opted-in to have the pre-chat form  (“Appearance” -> Pre-chat form).

Along with the contact information, AskHandle also captures several other data points:

1. User’s referral source (website or page prior to the page where the user initiated the chat)
2. Actual page where the user initiated the chat.
3. User’s device
4. User’s browser type
5. Quality of the lead
6. User feedback

When you insert a webpage URL to fine-tune AskHandle, AskHandle attempts to visit the URL, scan the page, and generate responses based on the webpage content. If AskHandle struggles to comprehend questions or fails to provide specific information from the webpage, it could be from the webpage's restrictions on crawling.  This prevents AskHandle from accessing the necessary information to generate appropriate responses.

## Step 2: Implementing a solution

To resolve this, you will need to manually bypass the crawling restrictions by following these steps:

1. Copy the webpage content: Navigate to the webpage and select all the relevant content that your chatbot needs to understand.
   
2. Paste into a document: Copy the content and paste it into a document format that the chatbot can access, such as PDF, DOCX, or TXT.

3. Upload the document: Within the Command Center, locate the file section and upload the document you've created.

By uploading the content directly, you enable AskHandle to utilize the information effectively, thus improving its comprehension and response accuracy.

# What Are Live Chat Capabilities?

AskHandle is, first and foremost, an automated customer support system with the sole goal of eliminating any manual workload from the customer support services.
 
We understand that some individuals still like to have the option to jump into the conversation with users and chat by themselves. For this reason, we have added a live-chat capability.
 
In the Chats section, you can see previous and current chats. If the chat is ongoing and you’d like to join, simply turn off the AI and chat. There’s a toggle named “Use AI”; turn it off and use the text field below the current chat to write your responses, then click on “Send message” whenever you want to send your message to the user.
 
When the AI is turned off, AskHandle becomes a typical live-chat solution.



AskHandle primarily serves as an automated customer support system, but also offers a live-chat feature for users who prefer human interaction, accessible by toggling off the AI in the Chats section.

# What are Messages?

 This is the part where the entire interaction between users and the chatbot is stored. This is also the part where you can directly chat with users, if you turned off the automation.

To access this section, please log in to your account and click on the “Messages” button in the “Menu”.

All previous interactions and current interactions can be seen in the “Messages” section. On the right side, you have the option to quickly find any previous interaction by typing the user’s name in the search bar.

Type in the name of the user and the interaction with that user’s name will be shown in the results.

Turn off the AI
If you or your customer representatives are available and want to take over the interaction, you can turn off the AI. This will disable smart automation (no more automatic answers) and your representatives can chat directly with the users.

Option 1: Turn off AI and join a conversation.
Hover over the left sidebar menu, go to the “Messages” section, and click on the “Use AI” button; AI will be disabled for that particular chat. If you’d like to turn it back on, click on the “Use AI” button again and if there’s a blue color, the chatbot is on again.

Option 2: Turn off AI globally.
You can turn off AI globally, not just for a particular chat but for every new chat you receive, so AskHandle becomes a live-chat tool, and your representatives can chat with users.

If you’d like to completely turn off AI, hover over the left sidebar menu, go to “Appearance” -> Autopilot -> Use AI during the chat, and turn it off.



To access and manage user interactions, log in to your account, navigate to the Messages section in the menu, where you can review past and ongoing conversations, search for specific users, and toggle between automated and direct chat options. Additionally, you can globally disable AI to enable live-chat capabilities for representatives.

# What is a Data Source?

A data source is a repository where your data is stored, from which AskHandle generates answers and content. There are three methods for importing data into each data source: you can upload PDFs, DOCX, CSV, TXT, and Markdown files, insert a webpage URL, or simply write or paste information into the plain text field. You can choose to use all three methods simultaneously or separately.

### What data should I include? Should I also include questions?

The imported data should be relevant to the goal you wish to accomplish with your AI chatbot. Any information that you’d like AskHandle to provide as an answer to a user query should be included in your data source. You don’t have to include the questions along with information that would answer those questions. However, you certainly can if you wish. AskHandle is pretrained to understand user queries regardless of the language they are in or how they are structured. For example, you can simply upload a PDF document containing information about your services, product features, contact information, or anything else written as regular text paragraphs. AskHandle will automatically be trained on that document, so whenever a user query comes, AskHandle will automatically answer the query with the relevant information from the document you uploaded.

### Can I simply insert a webpage URL and have AI answer questions based on the information from the webpage?

Of course, every data source has three ways of importing information, and inserting a webpage URL is one of them. This is a very simple and straightforward way to train your AI chatbot. There’s one instance where this method won’t be optimal, and that’s if the webpage you wish to train the AI on doesn’t allow crawling. If the webpage doesn’t allow crawling, AskHandle won’t be able to access the information on that webpage, it won’t be able to get trained, and ultimately, it won’t be able to answer user queries. This is an important point to keep in mind when choosing the way to import information for AI training.

### Is the chatbot trained when I import my data into the data source?

Once you import and save your data into the data source, please allow a few seconds for the AI to process your data. Refresh the Command Center page after a few seconds, and if the “Processed” label is shown next to your data source, it means that your chatbot is ready. If you still see “Unprocessed” next to your data source, wait a few more seconds and refresh the Command Center page until the label changes to “Processed”.

As a true AI company, we have AI doing multiple tasks at AskHandle, including overseeing AI responses to ensure that the information users receive is correct and relevant to their queries. In the Chats sections, below every response provided by AskHandle, you can see two numbers or scores in the bracket. These scores range from 0 to 1.
 
The first score in the bracket represents the truthfulness of the responses. This score indicates whether the AI used the same words that are in the information imported to the data sources or if it creatively structured the responses using the same data and context. A score of 0 means that none of the words in the response match those in the imported information, while a score of 1 means that the response uses the exact same words and phrases found in the imported information. The numbers between 0 and 1 represent the similarity of the words in the imported information to those in the provided response.
 
The second score in the bracket represents the relevance of the response. If a user asks a question that cannot be specifically answered because the information is not in the imported data, this score will be zero or close to zero. Conversely, if the user query can be specifically answered with the imported information, this score will be 1 or very close to 1. Scores between 0 and 1 indicate how specifically the user query can be answered given the imported information.
 
These two scores are powerful indicators for understanding the thoroughness and comprehensiveness of the imported information. If the scores are consistently low for most user queries, it suggests that more specific information should be added to the data sources.

A chat interaction refers to the activity where an individual user initiates a chat, engages in a conversation with AskHandle, and then leaves the chat. This interaction encompasses the entire conversation from start to finish, regardless of the number of messages exchanged within the chat session.

There is no limitation on the number of messages a user can send during the interaction, and users are not charged per message. Chat interactions are calculated by individual users who initiate a chat, engage in a conversation with AskHandle, and then leave the chat.

We do not limit the number of messages within the chat, nor do we charge per message.

A chat interaction comprises the entire conversation between a user and AskHandle, starting from initiation to conclusion, regardless of message count. Users aren't restricted in message quantity or charged per message, and interactions are calculated per individual user who initiates and concludes a chat session.

Training the chatbot with specific information
 
Training your chatbot in the Command Center is a very straightforward process. The way your chatbot responds to queries or generates content largely depends on the information you provide and its structure. This process of training and setting up the chatbot is called the "Fine-Tuning" phase. Essentially, it's about teaching the chatbot to provide specific information and communicate in your typical style.
 
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
 
1. Go to Command Center
 
Log in to your AskHandle user account and go to Command Center.
 
2. Select the Data Source Mode
 
Selecting the appropriate data source mode is important to ensure that you receive answers and generate content that aligns with your requirements. Below, we provide a detailed overview of the three available modes, enabling you to identify the option that best suits your specific needs.
 
AskHandle provides three "Data Source Modes" to select from: "General Data", "Your Own Data", and "Combined Data".
 
- General Data Mode
 
In General Data Mode, AskHandle creates content and provides answers using publicly available information, primarily from the internet. This mode harnesses the standard capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs), which make it suitable for a wide array of prompts, content generation, and for swiftly providing answers to many common questions.
 
It is important to note that General Data Mode does not use any proprietary information you may have uploaded for customization purposes.
 
 
- Your Own Data Mode
 
In Your Own Data Mode, AskHandle uses only the information you have uploaded for customization to generate content and provide answers. It will not access or supply any information beyond what you have provided.
 
Furthermore, this mode is designed to omit small talk; therefore, casual phrases like “thank you,” “bye,” or “great” will not prompt a social response from AskHandle unless such interactions are included in your uploaded data.
 
If AskHandle encounters questions it cannot answer with the provided data, it will revert to a default “contact us” message. You can customize this message in the Appearance section of your AskHandle dashboard, under Option 2.
 
- Combined Data Mode
 
Combined Data Mode is the default setting where AskHandle gives priority to the information you have uploaded for customization, ensuring that all responses and content creation are based on your data. This mode allows for small talk, meaning that casual greetings and farewells such as “hello” and “goodbye” will be acknowledged and answered suitably.
 
Please note that in this mode, AskHandle will not offer specific details about other companies, products, or services unless you have explicitly included that information in your uploaded data.
 
We recommend using the "Combined Data" mode. This strategy optimizes chatbot efficacy, ensuring it consistently delivers meaningful interactions to your customers.
 
3. Add a Data Source
 
After selecting the Data Source Mode, click the "Add Data Source" button to begin training your chatbot. We offer three methods to input your training material:
 
Document Files: Upload DOCX, PDF, CSV, or .TXT files using the "Choose File" button or by dragging and dropping your files. Note: Only one file can be uploaded per Data Source. If you'd like the chatbot to learn from multiple documents, create separate Data Sources for each.
 
Plain Text: Input text directly, whether by pasting it in the plain text field or simply by writing text in the plain text field. The chatbot will internalize and respond based on this input when customers pose related queries.
 
Webpage URL: Direct the chatbot to a webpage for learning. If you specify a URL, the chatbot will scan and learn its content. However, be cautious: many websites, especially major ones like Instagram or StackOverflow, restrict chatbots from accessing and utilizing their content. This method is best suited for webpages you manage or have clear, unrestricted content.
 
4. Save the Data Source
 
After adding your materials, click the "Save Data Source" button.
 
 
5. Monitor the Processing Status
 
Post saving, you'll notice a status indicator. Initially, it will display UNPROCESSED, indicating your chatbot is assimilating the provided materials. This phase typically lasts between 10 and 20 seconds, though it may vary based on the volume of content. After 10-20 seconds have passed, simply refresh the page.
 
Once the chatbot completes its learning, the status will update to PROCESSED, indicating your chatbot ready to assist.
 
 
Setting up Interactive Options
 
Interactive options are AI-powered, quick-reply buttons that provide information with a simple click. Unlike static buttons, they offer dynamic responses. The text on each button acts as a query or prompt, which the AI uses to generate answers based on the fine-tuned data you've provided.
 
Locate the "Edit" button; they can be found next to the interactive options in Command Center.
 
Click on the "Edit" button to open the interactive options' settings. Here, you can change the text on each button to better suit your needs.
 
After editing the text, make sure to save your adjustments by clicking the "Save" button. This will ensure your changes are applied and visible to users.
 
Removing Interactive Options
 
Click the "Edit" button next to the interactive option you wish to remove.
 
In the edit mode, you will see an option to uncheck the "Show Button" box. Unselect this option to hide the button from view.
 
Click on the "Save" button to finalize the removal of the interactive option. The button will no longer be displayed.
 
Remember, interactive options are there to make the experience more engaging for the user, so consider carefully how each edit or removal might affect their experience.

In the Testing Page section, you have the option to configure the testing page with a background image and logos.
 
You have the option to configure the visuals of the QR code with your logo as well. To test the AskHandle experience on mobile, simply scan the QR code.
