How does subscription billing and credits work?
Updated May 11, 2026
Your subscription is billed monthly, starting from the day you sign up. This article explains how charges and credits work when you first subscribe, change your plan, or reach your next billing date.
When am I charged?
You are charged on the day you subscribe, and then on the same date every month — your billing date.
For example, if you subscribe on May 11, your next charge is June 11, then July 11, and so on.
What happens to my credits each month?
Each billing date, your credits reset to your plan's monthly allocation. Unused credits from the previous month do not carry over.
| Plan | Credits each billing date |
|---|---|
| Starter | 1,000 credits |
| Growth | 3,000 credits |
| Pro | 10,000 credits |
Credits expire after 1 year of inactivity if your subscription lapses.
Upgrading your plan
When you upgrade, the change takes effect immediately.
Billing: Stripe calculates a prorated charge based on the days remaining in your current billing period. You are refunded the unused portion of your current plan and charged for the same remaining days on the new plan. The net amount is shown before you confirm.
Credits: Your credits reset immediately to the new plan's full monthly amount.
Example: You are on Starter (1,000 credits, $50/mo) with 20 days left in your billing period. You upgrade to Growth (3,000 credits, $200/mo).
- Stripe refunds ~20/30 of $50 = $33.33 for the unused Starter days
- Stripe charges ~20/30 of $200 = $133.33 for the remaining Growth days
- Net charge today: ~$100.00
- Credits reset to: 3,000
Your next full charge of $200 happens on your regular billing date.
Downgrading your plan
When you downgrade, the change is scheduled for the end of your current billing period. You stay on your current plan until then — keeping access to your existing credits and features.
On your next billing date, the lower plan activates and your credits reset to that plan's amount.
Cancelling your plan
When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. You keep access to all credits and features until that date. No refund is issued for the remaining days.
What if I run out of credits before my billing date?
If you use all your credits before your billing date, you can:
- Upgrade your plan — resets credits immediately to the new plan's allocation
- Purchase additional credits — topped up instantly without changing your plan
