How to install Web Messenger on Wix
Updated May 13, 2026
AskHandle Web Messenger lets visitors chat with your AI agent directly from your Wix website. This is useful when you want website visitors to ask questions, get help, request information, or start a conversation without calling or filling out a form.
To install Web Messenger on Wix, you will copy the installation code from AskHandle and paste it into the Custom Code area of your Wix website.
The most important setting is where the code is placed. The AskHandle installation code should be added to the Body - end section, which is the Wix option that places the code near the end of your website page before the closing </body> tag.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- An AskHandle AI agent that has already been published
- Access to your Wix website dashboard
- Permission to edit your Wix website settings
- A published Wix site with a connected domain
If your AI agent is not live yet, publish it first. The Web Messenger installation code is available after your agent is live.
Step 1: Publish your AI agent in AskHandle
Before you install Web Messenger, your AI agent needs to be live.
- Log in to AskHandle.
- Open the AI agent you want to add to your Wix website.
- Review your agent and make sure it is ready for visitors.
- Publish the agent.
Once the agent is published, you can access the live agent settings.
Step 2: Open Manage Live Agent
After your AI agent is live:
- Go to the top of your AskHandle portal.
- Click Manage Live Agent.
This opens the area where you manage the live version of your AI agent.
Step 3: Open Web Messenger
Inside Manage Live Agent:
- Look at the top-left side of the page.
- Click Web Messenger.
This opens the Web Messenger settings for your live AI agent.
Step 4: Copy the installation code
In the Web Messenger section, you will see the installation code on the left side of the page.
- Find the Installation Code box.
- Click Copy Code.
This copies the Web Messenger script that you will add to Wix.
Step 5: Open your Wix website dashboard
Now go to Wix.
- Log in to your Wix account.
- Open the website where you want to install AskHandle Web Messenger.
- Go to your site dashboard.
You do not need to edit the design of your page. The code is added from your Wix dashboard settings.
Step 6: Go to Custom Code in Wix
In your Wix site dashboard:
- Click Settings.
- Find the Development & integrations section.
- Click Custom Code.
- Click + Add Custom Code.
This is where Wix lets you add third-party scripts to your website.
Step 7: Paste the AskHandle installation code
In the custom code box:
- Paste the AskHandle Web Messenger installation code you copied earlier.
- Give the code a clear name, such as AskHandle Web Messenger.
Using a clear name makes it easier to find the code later if you ever need to update or remove it.
Step 8: Add the code to all pages
Under Add Code to Pages, choose:
All pages
This allows the Web Messenger to appear across your full website, so visitors can start a conversation from any page.
If you only want the messenger on certain pages, choose the specific pages instead. For most businesses, All pages is the recommended option.
Step 9: Place the code in Body - end
Under Place Code in, choose:
Body - end
This is the Wix option that places the code near the end of your website page before the closing </body> tag.
Step 10: Apply and publish
After the code is pasted and the settings are selected:
- Click Apply.
- Publish or refresh your Wix website if needed.
- Open your website in a new browser tab.
- Check that the AskHandle Web Messenger appears on your website.
How to test that Web Messenger is working
After installation, visit your website like a customer would.
Check that:
- The Web Messenger appears on your website
- The messenger opens when clicked
- You can send a test message
- Your AI agent replies correctly
If everything works, your Web Messenger is installed successfully.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the Web Messenger on my Wix site
Try these steps:
- Make sure your AskHandle AI agent is published.
- Confirm that you copied the full installation code.
- In Wix, make sure the code is added to All pages or to the specific page you are testing.
- Make sure the code is placed in Body - end.
- Click Apply in Wix.
- Refresh your website.
- Try opening your website in an incognito or private browser window.
I cannot find Custom Code in Wix
Make sure you are in your Wix site dashboard, not only the page editor. The Custom Code area is usually found under Settings in the dashboard.
Also make sure your Wix site is published and has a connected domain, because Wix may limit custom code options on sites that are not fully set up.
The messenger appears on one page but not another
Go back to your Wix Custom Code settings and check Add Code to Pages.
Choose All pages if you want the Web Messenger to appear across your full website.
The messenger still does not appear after installing the code
If you recently added the code, wait a minute and refresh your website. You can also clear your browser cache or test from a different browser.
If it still does not appear, remove the code from Wix and add it again carefully. Make sure nothing was accidentally deleted from the installation code.
Best practices
- Add Web Messenger to all pages so visitors can ask for help anywhere on your site.
- Test the messenger after installation.
- Keep your AI agent published and up to date.
- Update your website visitors with helpful answers inside your AI agent, such as business hours, services, pricing, booking instructions, and contact information.
